Underdog Run
Fenton went undefeated in the regular season last year with a first-time player at quarterback, then lost him to a lacerated kidney the week before the playoffs and went out early. He came back cleared in March, worked at Meijer all summer, went to zero camps, and started emailing college coaches himself in August. This is what that season looks like from the inside.
Preseason
The school paper prints "Nobody called." A sophomore who outweighs him by forty pounds gets a real shot at his job. Three people spend a week taking shots at him on Yik Yak, one of them from inside his own huddle. Two coaches write back four days too late for the headline.
Clio
New Clio defensive coordinator, a two-high structure Fenton has not seen from them, and the first time Nick Mansour has been hit by a stranger in ten months.
