ROAD TO GLORY RTG-01 · Underdog Run · Week 0

Week of August 17–23, 2026

Around Fenton this week

Everything that isn't a story yet.

Morning announcements
  • Fall sports pictures Tuesday 8/25, aux gym, 2:45.
  • Senior parking passes are gone. Mrs. Delp says stop asking.
  • Yearbook needs one more photographer for Friday nights. Nobody has volunteered.
  • The 200-wing water fountain is out of service pending "an investigation."
  • NHS applications open September 8. Ari Mansour has already asked twice about the form.
Friday night
Clio at Fenton · 8/28 · 7:00 p.m.
Gates 5:30. Student tickets $5 with ID.

Student section theme: ORANGE OUT, run by Hannah Swain, who has now posted about it four separate times and has begun replying to people individually.

Forecast at kickoff: 71°, clear, light wind out of the southwest. First cool night since June.
Band
Full-field rehearsals begin Monday, 6:00–8:30 p.m. The 2026 show is called "Nocturne."

Mr. Perkins told the pit section it is "actually difficult this year," which every band in the state is told and which, according to two students, appears to be true this time.

Jazz combo has a standing Thursday after school. Attendance last week: four out of six.
From the parking lot
A senior has begun a documented campaign against a lifted truck occupying two spaces in row C. The truck belongs to Troy DeGayner, who has been informed and who has responded by parking slightly worse.
Practice rumor mill
Claimed: Ben Haijcar has been moved off safety and is QB2 only.
Actual: He started at free safety in Tuesday's scrimmage period and took eight snaps at quarterback in the change-up package. Nothing has moved.

Claimed: Fenton is installing a new no-huddle package.
Actual: Fenton has run tempo since 2024. This has been rediscovered by three separate sophomores.
Local headline
Tri-County Times, 8/26 · Section B:
"Everybody had nine months to figure out Fenton. Friday we find out if anybody did."

Also in the paper this week: a photograph of the Fenton Wing & Grill's marquee, which currently reads GO TIGERS — TIGER BUCKET $14.99 — GO NICK. The owner declined to say whether the third line was a permanent addition.
Overheard / seen
North hallway, Thursday, between third and fourth. Mansour walking with his backpack on one shoulder and his cleats hanging off the other by the laces, because he has a study hall in third hour that he spends in the band room and then goes straight from the band room to the training room. Three separate people said his name as he passed. He nodded at two of them. He did not notice the third, who was disappointed about it in a way she will not admit to.

Band room, same day. Perkins, from the office doorway, without looking up: "The FLOOR, Nicholas." Cleats off. Sock feet on the pedal. He kept playing.
Assignments due
  • AP Gov — reading response, Friday
  • Physics — lab safety contract, signed, Monday
  • Mrs. Grady — "a paragraph about something you're actually interested in," Friday. Twelve students have asked whether this is a trick.
  • Precalc (Gilbert) — problem set 1.1–1.4, Thursday
